Housing, Heritage, Density: vibrant neighbourhoods or Hong Kong without the view?

How do we work with planners and legislators to ensure that Victoria's planning system doesn't gut communities and destroy the suburbs historic essence - that which makes then unique, attractive and liveable?

Join us at this timely seminar presented by the Royal Historical Society of Victoria’s Heritage Committee.

In the context of a major revamp of the Victorian planning system, this seminar asks how we can make positive use of heritage as we plan to house more people. How can we modify Plan Victoria to make full use of heritage as anchor and focus for new neighbourhoods?

The seminar will be chaired by Charles Sowerwine, RHSV Heritage Committee and the distinguished speakers are:

  • Christine Branagan, Boroondara Heritage Group for Advocacy and Protection

  • Michael Buxton, Emeritus Professor Environment and Planning RMIT University

  • James Lesh, Founding Director, Heritage Workshop

  • Mike Scott, Co-founder Planisphere
